Dead New World
Ill Nino

If there is one band that has managed to perfectly mix the modern Metal sound with the enchanting Latin tunes, this band is definitely the American six piece act ILL NINO. Loved by many, hated by others, the New Jersey based Nu Metal band has been delivering the goods for more than a decade and now it's time for them to unleash their fifth (if I'm not mistaken) album.
I know that many of you will be wondering why the hell I review such a "false" band etc. Yeap, I realize Nu Metal was never a metalhead's favorite thing. Anyway, back to the review. Ill NINO haven't changed much in their sound, since "Dead New World" is one more aggressive, groovy and... tribal let's say album full of catchy riffs, incredible vocal melodies and catchy choruses by the one and only Cristian Machado and a rhythm section that literally kills! The US act seems to be giving into brutality as years go by, since we see them (or hear them) featuring more aggressive parts, as well as many breakdown parts. Yeah, those "tear the fucking place down" kind of parts, hehehe! Thumbs up for the SMASHING PUMPKINS cover, which is probably the slowest song in here and adds a nice tempo change for the closing of the album.
One more great release from ILL NINO that prove to be an incredibly talented and hard working band and a great "investment" for Victory Records (I suppose AFM only handles the European release or something). I just hope I have the chance to see them live sometime here in Greece.
