What do we have here? Another glam band formed back in the late 80s in America, now finally releasing stuff from the early 90s. Classic story...
GYNGER LYNN - with their name taken from a famous porn star - were formed in Chicago back in 1989. They took Chicago stages by storm for over a decade, becoming one of the hardest-working Rock legends the area has seen. They have supported bands such as TUFF, LILLIAN AXE, DORO, HELIX and BLUE OYSTER CULT and they had many fans. Last year they released their debut "Gynger Lynn" with material from 1990 and 1991 and now "Baby's Gone Bad" is their second album with material from 1993. I haven't listened to their first album so I can't say which one I find better, so I will only write about this CD.
To tell the truth, when I started listening to the album I felt a little bored. "Take Me Away" is a punk-glam mixture which I personally found interesting but then up until "Need A Little Love" which is pretty good I didn't find a song to attract my attention. Till the end of the album there are also a few songs that I find pretty nice, for example "Lonely, Lonely", "Wanna Be Your Lover" which is a bit heavier than the rest of the album and "The Chance" which has an awesome melody and nice key parts (I generally love keyboards) and I can say that this is my favorite song of the album. Dean Psessley has a classic glam voice that reminds me of many other voices of the genre. The cover of the album is pretty good and suitable enough for this band. The sound and the production aren't that good and this is what makes this album to sound like it was recorded back then, which I find really nice.
If you're into this genre then lend an ear to this album, you may find it interesting... But if you're not into this stuff, you shouldn't be reading this!
