THE AUTUMN OFFERING is a band I always used to hear inside the Metalcore/Deathcore circles, but never actually spent time to learn about. The band's brand new self titled album is a really good chance to get to know the band musically and see if Victory Records will satisfy my hunger for modern extreme Metal once more.
The band is alive and kicking since 1999, but didn't release a full-length album up until 2004, when HATEBREED's Jamey Jasta took notice of them and signed them in his own Stillborn Records for the release of their debut "Revelations Of The Unsung". 2006 found the band releasing its sophomore album through Victory Records and they have been part of the specific label since then, releasing three more albums, including the new one.
What about the band's music? What's the thing that made Jasta see something special in them? It was probably because this extreme modern Metal trend was starting to expand and THE AUTUMN OFFERING seems like a pretty talented, as well as hard working band (the band was doing self booked US tours before they even sign their first contract). These guys are mostly based on some simple stuff, aggression, brutality, catchy and violent breakdowns and technical melodic leads that will surely satisfy every fan of the specific scene. What I kind of liked in "The Autumn Offering" is the band's singer, who has some unusual for the genre brutal vocals, sounding closer to a really bestial Hardcore singer, as well as fucking awesome screams!
To cut a long story short, THE AUTUMN OFFERING are not aiming to reinvent this genre of music, but they are doing their best keeping it alive and adding much quality in it. If you are into modern, brutal and fast music, then I guess this album will look just fine in your collection.
