One might think that with a name like DRAGONSFIRE, you would be getting a flower Metal band. You would be wrong. However, that does not necessarily mean that you get something better. The genre tag given to this band is "melodic Metal," and while the music is not particularly heavy, it is not really that melodic either.

They were formed in 2005 and started out with a female singer, but she has departed and the bassist does the vocals now. Their first album was released three years later and for "Metal Service" the band has, according to the press release, managed to "ban a loaded portion of Heavy Metal onto disc."

If by "loaded" they mean "forgettable" then this is correct. After a stupid and pointless intro, "My Mashed Insane Brain..." starts, and about halfway through they mention how they are going to "rough up the club." Seriously. I guess Heavy Metal clichés (and this album is full of them) are not enough, they have to stick a hip-hop one in there too. The vocalist uses a drunken-styled growl, similar to Algy Ward of TANK. This style does not really suit the music, which is really basic textbook metal, almost completely lacking in anything overly heavy. He really adds nothing to the music except for a voice to sing the silly lyrics, no vocal hooks or anything.

As said, the music is forgettable at best. Instrumentally, there's nothing spectacular going on. Musically, there's absolutely nothing new or interesting. It was in one ear and out the other with nothing (except for that laughable "Roughing up the club" line) sticking to memory afterwards.

Although the genre is saturated with bands that play the same basic style of music, this oversaturation cannot be blamed for how unremarkable this album is. I'm listening to a band as I write this called GALLOWS END (look for the review in a week or two) that is playing straightforward Heavy Metal that is exponentially better than this. So it is not like I have just been overexposed to this sound and that it has lost all value to me. It is just that this album is not very good. Pass.
