Plead The Fifth

Oh how I love when I receive a promo pack from Victory Records! This label knows what to do when it comes to modern Metal/Hardcore. This band's name rang a bell, but I couldn't remember where I have heard this name. Anyway, let's see what "Plead The Fifth" has in store for the fearless listener...
Hailing from the US (how strange), TAPROOT release their fifth - if I am not mistaken - album, something that probably hides a few years of history. All these theoretical thoughts are because the band didn't spend any time to mention any bio stuff on their official site or Myspace page.
As regards the band's music now, we have nothing more or nothing less than what some people like to call Alternative Metal. TAPROOT use their catchy and groovy riffs as a solid base, with the clever vocal melodies completing the scenery. There are moments that these guys reminded of something like a modern version of ALICE IN CHAINS, SEVENDUST (with whom they have toured) and a bit of NONPOINT. Even though I pleasantly listened to "Plead The Fifth", I can't say that I was really amazed. The album may feature a variety of sounds like aggressive groovy parts, as well as more melodic sing along choruses, but it just didn't seem enough to convince me that TAPROOT have something more to offer, something different.
Yes, it is a pretty decent album but nothing more. Suggested only to people who are totally into this sound and like the aforementioned bands.
