Severe Torture

Season Of Mist Records has started finding its old good self with brutal as fuck and blackest of the black bands in its roster releasing the most blasphemous incarnations! After all those weird experimental bands this label signed, the Dutch butchers are here to remind us that the good old brutal music is always a shelter for every metalhead. Let's see what these schizophrenic maniacs have in store for us this time...
In times when the Dutch squad isn't producing such quality soccer during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, my expectations regarding this quintet were even greater, hahaha! So, the only thing that has changed since "Sworn Vengeance" is the band's label since Earache Records now belongs to the past for these guys.
Well, it seems that there are a few more things that have changed as regards the band's music. SEVERE TORTURE started out as a brutal as fuck bands heavily influenced by CANNIBAL CORPSE and even featured some Grind parts in its music. As time passes by, the Dutch seem to reduce those parts and have started taking a more classic Death Metal walk...
"Slaughtered" is characterized by the many tempo changes that vary from classic SEVERE TORTURE extreme blasts, to mid tempo heavy riffing. The guitar twin has worked a lot on the music this time, presenting a complete album with damn fine riffs, "epic" melodies and a heavy as hell attitude! This band presents a slightly different face with each album, and that's what it continues to do with "Slaughtered". What amazes me is that they always achieve this change without having to leave any of their brutality or trademark sound behind.
As the note behind the promo CD says, "More brutal, eclectic and darker than ever SEVERE TORTURE will blow you away!". Who can't agree with that? Oh, and by the way. Watch out for "Incarnation Of Impurity"! This track can cause some serious spine damages!
