Singapore is surely not the first country that comes in your mind when you think about Metal. IMPIETY is one of the very few bands that managed to make it out of their country's borders, and WORMROT will try to do the same with "Abuse". Their contract with Earache Records is surely a huge step for these guys (although I read somewhere that the album was released in 2009 by Scrotum Jus Records, so this could be something like a re-release).
Anyway, let's see what these Singaporeans have in store for us. I noticed that many people compare them to INSECT WARFARE, a band that has dragged the attention of the Metal scene the last years. These Grind monsters try to create their own name in approximately 22 minutes of relentless blasting and pure violence. Their modern Grind that may have a few similarities to bands like MAGRUDERGRIND or AFGRUND is surely nothing extremely amazing, but it surely is a fine sample of what these guys can do and what they will probably do in the future. This festival of grotesquery shows its disrespect towards anything sweet, cute and beautiful. "Abuse" is only about pretty good Grindcore with some Crust touches (some even call them Crustgrind), speed that will make your ears bleed and a singer that seems like he's ready to devour everything!
These guys even made a YEAH YEAH YEAHS (Indie Rock band) cover, stripping down the song to a 44" cannibalistic holocaust! Good work and I am already waiting for their next step and from what I've seen they already have some projects on the works...
