I already knew this band from their 2007 album "The Craving", a fine sample of modern Death Metal that showed this band had some potential to do some serious stuff. "X-Torsion" is KENOS' next step and it will surely show whether these guys are here to stay or they are one more average Metal band out there...

Everything started in 1996, when UNDERWISE were formed. Five years later and after some line up changes, the band's name was changed and KENOS made their very first steps with the 2002 EP "Rigor Mortis". After a demo and a couple full-length releases, here we are with the band's third album.

The Italian quintet unleashes a rather unique may I say kind of Death Metal in "X-Torsion" that will probably offer something interesting to its listener. The music contained in this album features various rhythms and tempos, from blasts and almost classic Death Metal riffs, to "tharshier" patterns, to epic breaks... This band is actually trying to take Death Metal and mix all its genres in one! While listening to "X-Torsion" you will come across melodic Death Metal parts, more brutal moments, even Progressive Death Metal stuff! What's also intriguing is that they have a more modern approach, while they have also dressed their music in a more Industrial sound. The vocals also help since they have this industrialized aggression.

I guess it's a love or hate situation since it is a rather weird album. There were many times it confused me a bit and it took several listening sessions in order to get deeper into it. I suggest you check them out first (that's why MySpace profiles are for) and see for yourselves. As for me, I think I will be listening to "X-Torsion" in the near future again...
