Mondo.NYC, a global music and tech business summit and live showcase festival, has announced the addition of hip hop legend Darryl "DMC" McDaniels as a panel speaker and award-winning Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace as a showcase performer.

Darryl McDaniels or "DMC" as most of the world knows him, has been in the public eye for more than 30 years, since forming the legendary group, RUN-DMC with Joseph (Rev. Run) Simmons and the late Jason (Jam Master Jay) Mizell. After selling over 30 million singles and albums worldwide and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it would be hard to overstate his influence on popular culture. He helped transform hip hop into the most popular music in the world, while building a fan base that rivals the biggest acts in contemporary music.

McDaniels will be a featured guest on a Mondo.NYC panel called "The Artistry of Music," with Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group, Nuggets), Leah Hennessey (Hennessey) and Richard Barone (The Bongos, Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s). They will be discussing their creative process and inspiration, making this event a unique opportunity for aspiring musicians and music lovers to hear legendary musicians tell their stories and talk about their craft. This Mondo.NYC event is free and open to the public event is at Rough Trade Records, 64 N. 9th Street, Brooklyn, Weds. 10/3/18 from 11am to 2pm.

When Mark Van Doren, the American poet and teacher, wrote his famous work Our Lady Peace in 1943, he couldn't have imagined the concept of rock & roll, let alone that a Canadian rock group would adopt his title for their name. Consisting of Raine Maida, Duncan Coutts, Steve Mazur and Jason Pierce, Our Lady Peace is one of the most successful bands in Canada today. The band has sold over 5 million albums worldwide, won four JUNO Awards and ten Much Music Video Awards. OLP's latest album Somethingness, released earlier this year is a return to form both musically and lyrically as they embrace their early guitar driven, rhythmic roots and cryptic lyrics.

Our Lady Peace will be performing with NYC rockers Oak & Ash at White Eagle Hall, 337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, NJ (30 minutes from Mondo's Brooklyn HQ via PATH) on Weds. 10/3/18 at 8:30pm.

By day, Mondo.NYC is an incubator conference for the music and tech industries and by night, a multi-venue showcase festival for emerging artists from around the globe to perform at iconic Manhattan and Brooklyn independent venues. Join us on October 2-5, 2018 at the Williamsburg Hotel as we connect fans and creators in a shared mission of empowering artists and advancing ideas in an ever-changing world.
