LEVERAGE: Have Released their "Devil's Turn"EP.
September 23, 2018
The band continues to work on their next full-length album, which we anticipate releasing in 2019.
Guitarist Tuomas Heikkinen says, "we're excited that the EP is now released! It is very much a 'live' thing. We wanted it to rock and breathe and did not punch, edit, quantize, and polish everything as much as I guess often is the 'standard'. With the album in the works, it's been some time since I last last listened through the EP. I did again recently and was very happy with the energy it has. The songs are from a few years period, two of them ("Wheels From Hell" & "Unicorn") date back to when I started writing with Mikko [Salovaara] to see what we could come up with. The first demo for "Dead Man's Hand" was made an even longer time ago, but the song was rearranged to fit what we do now. "Skyfall" is a newer song, one of the songs that had been written clearly with the 'new Leverage' in mind. It was like we took a selection of the bunch of riffs and songs that were written in the years we were quiet and finished them for the EP. We tried to get some versatility in there, and it covers a pretty wide ground musically. It's been a while now since we made the EP and we're currently working hard on what we feel will be a killer album, with more mileage in writing and playing together and getting tighter as a band. These past months have been a great time getting the wheels rolling again. The EP is an early milestone in the direction that Leverage is going and it introduces Mikko and Kimmo, who are great guys and absolutely phenomenal musicians."
Leverage made three albums that kick ass. Tides (2006), Blind Fire (2008) and Circus Colossus (2009). Just read the reviews still available on the internet or even better, tune up and open your ears. You might be surprised.
And Leverage is not a power metal band, not an AOR band and definitely not a tribute to the 80's band. Leevrage don't fall into a category because for the band it's about making and playing music with heart and soul and having a blast doing it. Leverage developed their own style of making heavy rock in the 2000's. The stamp says Leverage. No more needed.
Leverage landed on the scene in 2006 with the independent release of their debut album, "Tides". With their blend of Symphonic and Melodic Hard Rock, with some Progressive Metal twists, Leverage created a buzz on the scene and were signed by Frontiers for the release of their second album, "Blind Fire" in 2008 before moving to Spinefarm/Universal for their next album, "Circus Colossus" (2009).
The band became inactive not too long after. Now they are back with the amazing new singer Kimmo Blom (Urban Tale, Raskasta Joulua) and a new guitar player Mikko Salovaara on the helm. Anticipated by the stomping single "Wheels from hell" the forthcoming return EP, which is nothing else than an appetizer for the forthcoming fourth album, promises already to be one of the highlights of the Melodic Metal season in 2019!
