I was sure not only that I knew this band but I also owned one of their earlier releases. Where was it? Oh, here it is. "Reeking Of The Putrid", an EP they released back in 2006. If I am not mistaken the band was giving it away for free outside a venue where I was to attend a live show, great promotional move! Anyway, let's get straight to the point.

The Athenian Death Metal act was formed in 2004 and took their name from a disease, where the fetus is starting to eat its mothers flesh while in pregnancy. The band's members are not new to the scene since they have participated in acts like DESOLATION, OBSECRATION, DEAD BY DAWN and more. The band has also managed to share the stage with known acts like NILE and PAIN to name a few.

To tell you the truth, their EP I own wasn't something that had impressed me back then, so I decided to listen to it once again, but the result was the same. I was afraid that the band's brand new album wouldn't change anything, The fact is that "Frenzied" turned out to be a good and solid Death Metal album. IN UTERO CANNIBALISM deliver old school brutal Death Metal influences by the masters (CANNIBAL CORPSE, MALEVOLENT CREATION etc) with up tempo blasting, as well as mid tempo groovy Death Metal parts. Good work has been done on the guitars with technical and catchy riffs, while Alex's drums definitely remain murderous as always!

My only objection is the production which sounds really weak compared to the music. I guess a heavier and cleaner production would have let the music unleash 100% of its strength. Anyway, well done guys. I am already waiting for their next live show!
