"In CORONATUS we trust" is my new motto: I add it to "in Germany we trust" for all things Metal and beer and food and women and...a couple of thousand things that can come to my mind...ups, sorry I drifted away. As I was saying, in CORONATUS we trust; at least, I am.

I will pass introductions and go directly to the point. Third album from the German dual female fronted gothic/symphonic/pagan Metal band CORONATUS, and what an album it is, after some band member changes, notably the departure of Ada and the coming of a new 'rock' singer Lisa Lasch. The girl is just nineteen and she has the voice of a senior Rock singer. Damn, she is so good I was amazed how easy she stepped in Ada;s shoes. Her voice is rocking powerful and that is obvious in the whole album. A much, much more solid album, in "Fabula Magna" CORONATUS have found their way back to powerful songwriting and ear-blowing sounds, after the weak "Porta Obscura" CD.

Again the album has songs in German, Latin and English. There are more folk influences true to the Heavy foundation, the use of violins, flute and piano provide a gothic lyrical undertone that eases the thundering Metal storm, the two ladies are filled with more energy than ever putting the band back on track and a few steps forward. In the over-saturated scene of female fronted like-minded bands CORONATUS push the limit in which other bands should follow, and shed from their back the tainted that had them fall behind bands such as NIGHTWISH and LEAVES EYES. There is still a small hint from a HAGGARD style of playing but it is totally irrelevant at this point and with the whole of the new album.

Another important point is the use of a second guitar player. Aria a seventeen year old boy plays fast and powerful adding more aggression to the sound of the new album and that is another thing that CORONATUS needed a little bit: more aggression.

CORONATUS are here to stay and they should. From most of the female-fronted bands CORONATUS deserves to remain on the scene, on the stage and in the studios offering us powerful albums. I already have the album so should you.
