Yob - The Illusion Of Motion album cover

I have a question for you. Can you tell me the reason why in a 55 minutes and 22 seconds album there only are 4 songs recorded? OK here's a small tip. The band's name is Yob. Ohhhh yes we have a winner! And the answer is: because it's a DOOM fucking Metal record! This American band is back with its new release, The Illusion Of Motion. Oh yes, of course there are only four songs in this album but that's not strange at all, not for a band which goes along with the same musical paths as Sleep and Electric Wizard!!!
Ball Of Molten Lead is the name of this music trip's start. The sound of the wind is followed by a guitar and a drum marching... and then the first riff comes to life. Then the song becomes a little faster and the psychedelic/distorted vocals together with some brutal vocal lines complete the song's entity. Then it's time for the bells to chime. The second song (Exorcism Of The Host) becomes reality after 11 minutes. The first riff, accompanied by the brutal vocals, is repeated again and again... and again... and the overflowing makes the song not boring but heavy, imposing. And when you think it's finished, the guitar starts again with a fuzz-sound and a background guitar solo which changes to more noisy and then the song takes the same form which it had before. Doom #2 is for the band's standards the shortest song of the album and also the song with the speediest rhythm (only 6 min. long); a small break before The Illusion Of Motion, the biggest song of the album. The distorted bass riff prepares us for what is going to follow. A really slow bass riff which continuous unchanged for a lot of minutes with some vocals like Geddy Lee's and small guitar riffs escorting it. Then comes a change of the guitar riff with another repeated riff but it doesn't change the tempo which is dangerously slow.
Yob's new album is really heavy and slow, elements which are going to satisfy all the Yob fans but are also the reasons why this album shouldn't be listened by people who are not used to this kind of music.
