Folie Circulaire
Withered

Whoa! Long time no see with my beloved label Prosthetic Records. I am still listening to THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD's latest brutal little gem and I want to have only positive thoughts about what I am going to face in Folie Circulaire.
After all, the band once used the services of ARSIS' session drummer Alex Tomlin, a man who knows how to beat the living shit out of his drum set. The band was formed in 2003 and this is their sophomore full-length effort and their debut for Prosthetic, since their debut was released by Lifeforce Records (one negative fact here).
One the one hand, this band has the good thing that manages to mix some really interesting, yet distant between them stuff that end up sounding a bit interesting, but on the other hand their weird experiment did not manage to amaze me. The Atlanta based metallers try to mix their Death Metal influences (ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, HATE ETERNAL) with their more modern approach to Metal music. The result ends up sounding like GOJIRA or THE OCEAN trying to play Death Metal.
So we can say that WITHERED feature grinding guitar work with some dramatic and epic melodies that some of you may find incredibly attractive, while others will find them boring. To tell you the truth I am somewhere in the middle since I find this album to be just nice. Although I believe that these guys can produce something incredibly kick ass with a little extra work on their compositions.
By the way, nice cover of NECROPHOBIC's Into Armageddon!
