Never ones to shy away from a challenge, World Heavy Metal Champions Taberah have released the latest single from their upcoming album Sinner's Lament: a galloping, thrash-drenched cover of The Eagles' 70s classic "Hotel California". "I think it's going to be a bit divisive," says drummer Tom Brockman. "We are big fans of The Eagles and we all grew up listening to classic rock thanks to parents with immaculate musical tastes."

"We wanted to create something a bit different and make the cover our own, while still paying respect to the original song and its writers."

The cover begins with the familiar acoustic-jangles of the original, before the band's signature guitar harmonies usher in a barrage of relentless drums, bone-crushing guitars and passionate vocals, all delivered with the certainty, humour and respect the band are known for. The video marks the band's second collaboration with Dawnless Studios (www.dawnlessstudios.com).

Sinner's Lament is set for a 19th May release through Rocket Distribution (Australia and New Zealand) and Rock Stakk Records (Japan). A European release via Killer Metal Records is TBC.

"Hotel California" is from The Eagles' album of the same name, released in December of 1976.

Inspired by their strong musical bond, Jonathon Barwick and Tom Brockman created what is now Taberah in 2004. The band's sound and live performance is derived from an array of influences including the traditional heavy metal stylings of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, the rock n' roll swagger of AC/DC and Thin Lizzy, and the over the top, tongue-in-cheek theatrics of Queen and The Darkness.

The four-piece quickly became a staple in the Tasmanian live music scene and are now one of the state's top musical exports with an ever-expanding audience at home and around the world. In 2011, Taberah blitzed a nationwide poll and were handpicked by Lemmy Kilmister himself to open for Motörhead on the Sydney leg of their Australian tour the same year. The band have released two full length albums, The Light of Which I Dream (2011) and Necromancer (2013). Necromancer scored amazing reviews worldwide, and was voted album of the year by Triple M's Distortion host Dave "Higgo" Higgins. The record peaked at number 12 on the Imports Chart in Japan's most reliable heavy metal source, BURRN Magazine. The band kicked off 2016 supporting Finland's Nightwish on their Endless Forms Most Beautiful Australian tour.

Other milestones include sharing stages across Australia with high profile international and national acts, such as Blind Guardian, Ace Frehley (ex-KISS), Paul Di'anno (ex-Iron Maiden), Tim "Ripper" Owens (ex-Judas Priest), Blessed by a Broken Heart, Municipal Waste and Hammerfall.

2017 will see them release their third studio album entitled Sinner's Lament, followed by extensive touring throughout Australia, Europe and Japan. Taberah deliver a show that is full of energy, over the top fun, theatrics and plenty of crowd interaction. This has earned the quartet a solid reputation for being one of Australia's "must see" live bands.
