En El Silencio
The Undead Family

Late last week, and a big pile of promos fell into my hands. One of them seemed quite interesting from the start, because of its cover and the title of the album. Just after I saw the back page of the booklet, I definitely wanted to do the review.
THE UNDEAD FAMILY, formed back in 2003, is one of the projects that Raul Puente has and they are originating from Spain. Unfortunately their MySpace and official site are in Spanish and since I don't speak Spanish I don't have a fucking clue about their history. The only thing I managed to see is that En El Silencio is their second album, the band had released also a demo, and that they had some lineup changes over the years. If my guessing abilities are good, this album was released last year and that's because the recordings took place from May to December 2007.
Just by reading the titles of the tracks, you are able to see that all the lyrics are in Spanish. On the other hand, it's not difficult to understand that THE UNDEAD FAMILY influences are from horror movies. Their music is somewhere between stone Rock, Death and Roll and peeping to death Metal. In some songs they sound like GOREFEST of the Chapter 13 and La Muerte eras. The production of the album went me some years back since it hasn't that polished touch that almost all modern productions have. And that's good.
Overall En El Silencio is an album that, despite the exotic sound it has due to the Spanish language, is a fun CD that fans of 'stone' and Death & Roll Metal, with vocals that lean to Death Metal, will like. Not something new in the scene but it's well played and you can see that the band likes what they are doing and they are playing with their hearts. If only they had some information in English, too...
