German thrash titansKreatorwill release their 14th album,"Gods Of Violence", on January 27, 2017 viaNuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork for the disc was created by renowned artistJan Meininghaus, who also made the limited-edition artwork forKreator's last album, 2012's"Phantom Antichrist", and has lent his talents to bands likeBolt Thrower,Accept,andOverkillin the past. "Gods Of Violence"was recorded under the watchful eyes of producerJens Bogren(Opeth,Amon Amarth,Katatonia) who also mixed the record at renownedFascination Street Studios. Mastering was done byTony Lindgren, also atFascination Street Studios.
Kreatorwill tour Europe in support of the new CD beginning in early February. Guitarist/singerMille Petrozzaand his crew will be accompanied by a varied as well as iconic billing. Brazilian-American extreme metal pioneersSepulturaare announced to be direct support to the headliners, followed by visionary Swedish melodic death metallersSoilworkand Belgium's finest death/grind outfitAborted.
"Phantom Antichrist"sold 3,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
