Flash back to about ten/eleven years ago.

I was 12 or 13 years old, sat in the kitchen as my Dad cooked dinner. There was music playing on a new CD he bought. This was before the iPod speakers took the CD player'splace. It was The Best of The Seventies CD, my introduction to that beautiful decade that shaped my taste and knowledge about music in general.

This particular song started with a beautiful melody on anacoustic guitar, this was then followed by some vocals that at that moment I didn't take a great deal of notice of.

But then it happened!!

"There's a starman waiting in the sky"

My heart warmed and hair stood on end from that line. It was the startof a simple yet beautiful chorus was my first introduction to a great, beautiful and talented man. I learnt later on that it was a song called "Starman" by a singer called DAVID BOWIE, it became a new favourite song.

Flash forward to present day and that very song plays on the radio; by this point tears stream down my face, it brings back memories of this moment. This present moment happened minutes after hearing the news of his death.

Over the years being heavily involved in music, his name often popped up in conversation and I am sure will continue to do so. I don't even need to sit here and explain how much of an inspiration he was to us all. We see it everywhere; in fashion, art and of course music.

It's more than safe to say this beautiful man of many talent will sadly be missed.

He is now the starman in the sky who will live on in our hearts.
