No Love
Wildheart
In the 80's, the Metal/Rock scene in Belgium was boiling hot, with many excellent names arising from those lands, as CROSSFIRE, FAITHFUL BREATH, ACID and many others. But for some years, the bands of the country seemed to disappear from mags and fanzines as well. But it's good to hear an album as "No Love", from the Belgian quintet WILDHEART. They're a kind of Hard Rock/Glam Metal band with a heavier insight, full of energy and pulsing with life. It's a blend between the melodic and accessible aspects of Glam Metal tendencies with some Heavy Metal aggressiveness. The vocals reminds the tunes of Sean Harris (former DIAMOND HEAD singer), and the band has a similar way, but with a different approach on its musical work. Be prepared to drown into seduction by their music!
The sound quality is really very good. It mixes a very good level of sound clarity with a feral rough touch of a recording that sounds as it was a rehearsal being recorded with high level technologies. So it bears a touch of an organic feeling as well. Their songs are all very good, but the best ones for a first time on "No Love" are the crude melodies of "A Stranger's Eyes..." (very good guitars with a NWOBHM ambiance), the nasty mix of accessible melodies with a fine work on bass guitar and drums shown on "Nothing But Trouble" and on "Dutch Courage", the mix of weight and introspection of "Rumours", the savage catchy energy of "Good to Be Bad", and the slow tempos of "Valerie". But on the second time, the listeners will love all their songs.
Living between Sunset Strip's show venues and London's Hammersmith Odeon, WILDHEART really has a great work. And "No Love" deserves to be heard at the loudest sound volume.
