Sometimes, Big Daddy here misses the 80s. No, it's not a matter of looking for bands that would fit in those old and good forms of music, but merely that feeling that I had a very good time in those days, indeed. In that vein, some bands really can make my heart feel that I'm back in time, and the good times are rolling once more. One of these bands is the Greek sextet WILD ROSE, and they are arriving and kicking asses with "4", the band's latest album.

Their musical style is that same and good old melodic AOR/Glam Metal that will bring to your mind bands as FOREIGNER, KANSAS, BON JOVI and something from DEF LEPPARD. It's melodic and tender, very good musical arrangements, excellent keyboards parts and choruses, fine backing vocals, and warm and tender atmosphere. No, it is not as aggressive, as you can imagine, but it's really amazing. The guitarist Andy Rock produced the album along with the band, and it was mixed Pelle Saether and mastered Dan Backman. The final result of their work is a great and clean sound quality, fitting perfectly on what the band plays, and on what they need for their music to gain life.

The normal album has 10 very good songs, being the best ones the melodic and catchy atmosphere of "Desperate Heart" and "Love Can Change You" (this one with charming backing vocals and very good work from bass guitar and drums), the extremely accessible "Summer Girl" (what lovely guitar parts), the excellent vocals on "Love Games" and "Hot Wired", and the charming keyboards on "Waiting for You" and "Don't Let Me Down". The Hellenic Edition of the album (the one I have in hand) also has two bonus tracks: the excellent ones "Sleepless Night" and "When It Comes to You".

This is an excellent album, indeed.
