UNTIME, a Norwegian Hard Rock and Heavy Metal band, have been playing and performing together for 20 years. Untime seems to have had its effects here, however, breaking out of the absence, they are here with their debut self-titled album. "Untime" comes in with ten tracks and a listening time of just over 33 minutes.

The opening track, "Bloodshot Eyes" comes in all drums. The bass and guitars are backing, until a few seconds in where the heavy comes to stay. The vocals are interesting and have a range that works well with this brand of Heavy Metal/Hard Rock. They are similar to Traditional 80's Heavy Metal Bands with the additional roughness of a modern Heavy/Hard Rock. This is a banging opener.

"Breathing Searching Suffocation", track two, is another hard hitter. This one is deep, heavy, and abundant in all the elements that make good Metal, good. There isn't as much melody in this one. While there is some, this is more of a pure wreckage track.

Track three, "Mysterious Ways", is a short 2:45, but it packs a punch. There is some atmosphere, some melody, both vocal styles, and dare I say even a dash of Prog thrown in there. The elements collide and fuse to create an intense, pure Metal track.

"Some To Pay", track four, is another track that executes the bass meticulously. The guitars and drums kill it on this track too. Being another standout track, the vocals create an odd and satisfying collusion of Punk Rock highs and guttural lows.

Track five, "Chosen One", reminds me of newer IN FLAMES sans the vocals. The musicianship at the beginning has a bit more melody than its predecessors. If they had used the deeper vocals in this track, I think it would have been in line with many of the current Metal bands today, but with the added vocals the overall sound is more Punk Rock with much heavier elements.

"Pale and Grey", track nine, is worth noting for its amazing musicianship from beginning to end. This is the best track, musically, on this album. The bass is flawless and makes the entire track fall into place. The guitars are phenomenally performed here, as well. The atmosphere that surrounds this track is thick and the melody is catching and exceptional. This track exceeds and surprises the senses.

UNTIME has created a genuinely good debut album. Most tracks are divided into two categories; a Hard Rock track or a Heavy Metal track. All of which show acute musicianship. There are a couple of standout tracks, "Pale and Grey" and "Some To Pay" that insert additional elements that kick the tracks up a notch (or two). "Untime" is a banger for sure.
