The Order - Rock 'n' Rumble album cover

In some opportunities, some people (like colleagues of Metal press, fans and even curious guys and girls) ask me about how a band can earn success on Metal/Rock scene. The answer is extremely easy: doing the music the way they want, 'cause being honest to yourselves you'll be able to reach your full potential. That's the formula, the God's equation to success. The only external factor you'll have to pay attention to is to keep yourself far away from what was already done.

The rest is only mental masturbation.

And a very good sample of musical honesty can be found on "Rock 'n' Rumble", the new album from German quartet THE ORDER that is out now.

To be honest, these guys are doing a fine example of how to play an old Metal/Rock style without sounding moldy or outdated. No, their music sounds pretty alive and full of energy, that nasty and musically accessible Hard Rock format that we used to hear on California and on another parts from USA: it's melodic and truly, but the rebel feeling from earlier Punk Rock has some contribution on their music as well. Very good melodies, excellent chorus and backing vocals, and the whole musical structure is not complex, just the needed amount of technique is presented. And these four guys know exactly what they are doing.

Recorded at Fist Studio by Sven Bürgin, and mixed and mastered by Achim Köhler, "Rock 'n' Rumble" has a very good sound quality. We can hear that the needed level of musical clarity is present, but the tunes of the musical instruments remind something from a live show, with a bit of raw sound. But it makes part of their work. And by the way, the album's production is from the band itself.

"Play It Loud" with its hooking feeling and very good work from guitars and vocals, the good level of musical accessibility shown on "Rock 'n' Rumble" (very good work on the rhythmic session, and fine chorus), the heavy and nasty slow Rock song "Fight" (full of a deep and introspective Rock'n'Roll feeling, with a very good interpretation), the Hard'n'Party feeling that is presented on "Gimme a Yeah" (YEAH, Hell, YEAH!); the heavy and abrasive riffs on "Womanizer" (maybe some militant feminists would like to rip my throat, but the song is something wonderful), and the heavy weight shown by the drums and guitars on "Wild One" can be said as their best songs, but the entire album is very good.

This album is hooking, lovely, and high-spirited. This is what we all need sometimes, so get your own copy from "Rock 'N' Rumble", dear nephews and nieces.<
