I don't know if there is a serious reason, but the band was studio inactive for 7 whole years! From what I found out, there is no other release between SVARTAHRID's 2000 As The Sunrise Flickers and their brand new album Sadness And Wrath. Anyway, let's hope that this long wait will be paid off with a really good album.

The Norwegian blacksters were formed back in 1994 and as I read on the internet, they are not some of the best guys out there. Their former bass player Ilvastar faces a sentence of 2 years in prison because he and some other guys broke into a crematory and desecrated several corpses. Not only that, but he also cut the head of one of the corpse sand took it with him! That's some sickness for sure...

Anyway, except from the band's achievements, they have also released some pretty good stuff and their new album is even more interesting than their previous ones, since DARKTHRONE's Nocturno Culto has written lyrics and performed vocals on one of the album's songs. The band's music is old school melodic (non-brutal) Black Metal that resembles to bands like TSJUDER, RAGNAROK and TAAKE. The band also seems to follow DARKTHRONE's rules of monotonous (in a good way) riffing and makes you get a bit lost into a cold and grim atmosphere.

Intensjon: Krig, where Nocturno Culto sings, is a classic Black Metal compositions with slight Thrash touches. The overall result in Sadness And Wrath is pretty interesting, although it cannot be described as something amazing. Black Metal fans will definitely like it, but I am sure that there are better releases out there. Let's say that it is a nice addition to your Black Metal collection.
