Torn From the Pages
Stevie D. Feat. Corey Glover
For those who are into music business and those who are curious enough to read the credits of an album, the name of the multi-instrumentalist Steve D is deeply know due his works as producer and mixer, and for playing guitars on shows and records of Carmine and Vinny Appice. But imagine him getting along with Roger Glover, LIVING COLOUR singer to make a musical project. No imagination is required anymore, because they worked together under the moniker STEVIE D. FEAT. COREY GLOVER, and the fruit of such union is "Torn From the Pages".
On the album there's a musical work that covers an ample range of musical genres, but the main guiding line is near Classic Rock, Hard Rock and AOR from the 80's, just with a modern outfit. But the competence and creativity of these guys is enough to turn led into gold, because the album's songs are full of feeling, with a catchy and charming energy, and elegant as their musical experiences deserve. Steve took the production duties in his hands, all sounds clear as crystal and great as well, with right volumes and instrumental tunes. And it sound modern and with excellent work on the capitation of the instruments as well.
The influences from Blues, Jazz Rock, Gospel music, Rock 'n' Roll, Hard Rock, AOR and a lot of countless musical genres are clear on "Torn From the Pages", and all the 13 songs are truly great, but the fire spitting Hard Rock called "Your Time Has Run Out" with its balance between melodies and technique on the guitars, the weaving modern melodies of "Wake-Up Call" and "Final Resting Place", the Blues/Gospel essence of "Haunted" (Corey's voice is amazing, and even more contrasting with these females contributions and choirs like voices), the modern Rhythm 'n' Blues song "Now or Never" (another fine example of Corey's great singing and Steve's abilities on guitars), the modern bitter groove of "Soul to Stone", and the modern Blues/Jazz noir song "This is the Time". These are the best ones, although the whole album is excellent.
"Torn from the Pages" is really a great release, and the hope for a new meeting between Steve and Corey could happen in a near future.
