Stephen Pearcy - View to a Thrill album cover

Just like Dave Mustaine, Pearcy's vocals are wide ranging, snarling, and memorable. This is prevalent through out "View to a Thrill" and makes for a rocking experience. "Malibu" offers more of this lush 80's vibe but always with a modern twist. Which works incredibly well and offers the listener a variety of sound, which seems to be to a theme on this album. "One in a Million" is earworm worthy and is a fist pumping tune that will have you singing along.

There seems to be a knack for writing kickass tunes in STEPHEN PEARCY'S camp because "Double Shot" is another winner. Gang vocals make all the difference in songs and this album is chock full of them. "Secrets to Tell" does have a chunky 80's feeling going for it. However, the piano interlude towards the middle was such a welcome sound that came from out of nowhere. Seemingly full of wonderful surprises that add so much to each song. Speaking of surprises, Pearcy enlists the guitar duties of guitarist Robby Krieger from The Doors on "Not Killin' Me". One listen and there is a sense of something special going on. There was a sense of familiarity, almost like a hot soup on a cold day. Comfort food? Easily one of the best songs on the album. Catchy, striking, and you bet that Robby's slide guitar slays as well!

"I'm a Ratt" is a throwback and nod to his other highly successful and well known band Ratt. You might have heard of them? As usual, Pearcy's vocals are in your face. There is no denying those 80's glam riffs on this tune. "Violator" is a rotund jam that just chugs along. This is another stand out track that is sure to be a fan favorite and is one of the heavier songs on the album. All in all, "View to a Thrill" has something to offer to everyone. STEPHEN PEARCY know how to build on sounds that round out each song. Pearcy's vocals and the virtual palette of sounds the band create are the highlights of "View to a Thrill". Highly recommended for fans of Ratt (obviously), modern rock fans, and those who enjoyed 80's glam metal. Not an album to be missed!
