Ride With Death

Not to be confused with a British outfit playing 70s era Metal, this Colorado based, gravel throated, snare bashing, Punk-Thrash hybrid is fuelled by the love of MOTORHEAD and probably a few dangerous / controlled substances. SPEEDWOLF is certainly the bastard child of Lemmy, with short song structures derived from 50s Rock N' Roll: simple, infectious, never taking themselves too seriously and a lot of fun. There will never be a Rolling Stone magazine article dissecting the inner workings of the band's lyrics or music.
SPEEDWOLF would undoubtedly never want to be seen or heard talking to such musical snobs anyway: old-school hand drawn / typeset / stapled plain paper zines are more their scene. Sweat drenched, amphetamine club Rock. It's more than two minutes into the opening signature tune before any vocals, just a series of drum crashes and guitar feedback. That's probably how the live show starts too, each member have lugged his own equipment through the door, set it up (no roadies) and line-checking the sound before blasting out an hour set for a gathering of drunken weekend warriors. "Death Ripper" stands alone, with its Black Metal vocals. Even though there are only eight song titles listed on the reviewer's promo copy, a dozen tracks are included, never a good sign of your label's commitment. Keep it simple, stupid!
