Nowhere Neverland

There were two things that impressed me a bit on Nowhere Neverland. The first one was the professional package that the band chose to accompany its EP and the second thing was the characterization the band uses to describe its music. Really, can someone explain me what exactly is a Tribal Metal band? I definitely can't explain it!
Portuguese SKYPHO (I don't even know what their name means) were kind enough to send their EP for a review and I am the one to review it, since it attracted my attention for the reasons I mentioned above. This is probably the band's first official work, and these guys seem ready to deliver some good stuff right from the start.
SKYPHO's music can be described as Nu Metal with some tribal elements. I think that if KORN's groovy Nu Metal and SOULFLY's tribal dynamic met together, SKYPHO would be the name of their child. Equipped with a heavy and solid production, the Portuguese metallers deliver a 5 track EP that will definitely satisfy every fan of the modern Metal sound. These guys seem very tight and this is obvious in every single second of Nowhere Neverland. Carlos Tavares has a really great voice for this kind of music and the rhythm section is helping him change the mood when he wants to do it. The guitars are nothing amazing, since Nu Metal was never famous for its guitar work. Let's also not forget that there are no solos in this release. One more thing that gives a more personal touch is Carlos Vidal's percussions, a pretty important element in SKYPHO's music.
Nowhere Neverland didn't amaze me, but it definitely made me spend approximately 21 minutes pleasantly and without being bored. Oh, I almost forgot it! This band has also managed to share the stage with acts like MOONSPELL and PRIMITIVE REASON. Not bad, huh?
