Skansis - Take Your Chance album cover

The question is rather simple to answer: are you into GOTTHARD and 'new' EUROPE? If yes, keep reading this (eventually) brief review. If not, don't waste your time on this one. For, as far as I'm concerned, SKANSIS may be the newly added GOTTHARD-influenced band and Take Your Chance sees a planned strategy for stepping on their compatriots' success. Take it or leave it.
This is the band's first full length, consisting of twelve songs featuring virtually everything you'd expect from a new Swiss Hard Rock act. In brief: fast rockers, mid-tempo 'night drive' cuts, mellow ballads and the rest of the usual stuff. Reto's vocals are warm and passionate, while he certainly brings GOTTHARD's Steve Lee to mind. As for the rest of the band, each and everyone musician is well-rehearsed with notable performance and a good-to-great sound (the guitars are 'fuzzy' enough, on second thought). Hence, the likes of GOTTHARD, SHAKRA, (00's) EUROPE and (some of 'late' but not 'latest') BON JOVI are present throughout the whole tracklist.
Don't get me wrong: Take Your Chance includes good songs. The one-and-only drawback obviously seen is that SKANSIS exposes limited - if any - personality. OK, this is not the year of groundbreaking artists/releases that will drive our music into new territories, but the potential buyer expects something more persuasive to open his wallet for.
The main thing SKANSIS can offer to your ears is an extra 'dynamic' new Euro Hard Rock album for your fanatic needs.
