Shadows Legacy - Lost Humanity album cover

Brazil has a strong Metal scene, but the economic problems evade it are growing. Rare are those who can live exclusively from their musical work. But it doesn't mean that you can't make a great album, even with all the problems, and in some moments, Brazilian bands seem to be fed by them. It's the case of the quintet SHADOWS LEGACY, from Campo Grande (MS). Their second album, "Lost Humanity", is truly amazing.

This album is a fine example of what evolution means: if the previous release, the album "You're Going Straight to Hell", was based solely on NWOBHM influences, this time they brought into their music clear touches from US Metal, classic Hard Rock and even earlier Prog Metal (like FATES WARNING and QUEENSRYCHE did on the 80's). And the songs are melodic, powerful and really charming, with great choruses, but aggressive and bearing a silk aggressiveness during the entire album. So we can say that "Lost Humanity" is that kind of album that you must hear.

The album was mixed and mastered by Aldo Carmine (and the production was shared by he and the band itself), a known producer of their region, that created a heavy and clean sound quality in a way that we can understand clearly what is being played. The crude touch we have in some moments comes from the instrumental tunes the band had chosen, but all fits in what their music needs.

Their finest moments: "Sea of Revenge" with those incredible melodies (that are heavy and accessible at the same time, a clear features from US Metal School), with excellent guitars; "Tough Ain't Enough" with its accessible features and excellent work from bass guitar and drums; the introspective ballad "The Final Act" (where the vocals are showing their versatility); the dry aggressiveness of "Minds Stalker" (some modern traditional Heavy Metal elements are presented here) and of "Dystopian Reality" (with a charming use of the contrast between harsh and normal vocals tunes); and the melodic insight in the same vein of US Metal bands used on "Back on the Road". But the entire album is truly great!

SHADOWS LEGACY shows how to mature, but keeping the essence of the musical personality on "Lost Humanity", and Brazil isn't great enough for their work anymore.
