Lamentations Of Destruction

The land of the thousand lakes has more metal bands than the element that is famous for the most of the world, despite the fact that its population is about five or six millions. SEAR is one of all these groups, deep into death metal sounds and Lamentations Of Destruction is their second album via Dynamic Arts, which is also in Finland.
Their debut was released in 2005 under the name Begin The Celebrations Of Sin, which give them the opportunity to be a nominee for the best newcomer of that year in Finnish Metal Awards. For this new album the 3/5 of the band has been changed and J. Henttunen, H. Hyytiainen, T. Landen are the new ones.
SEAR offers an album with good sound and instrument playing embodied with some good ideas. I said before that they are into death metal with some darkness or sulphur moments that most of the times are proclaimed by the lead guitar parts; one clear example is the Pedon Kasky tune, a song with lyrics in Finnish.
The vocals vary between low death, some clean, black (that are like Killjoy of NECROPHAGIA) and basically I don't find a reason for this diversity. I would prefer only the death ones; the other are not so good.
The whole result is not bad, but it is also away from a good designation. Guitar riffs are trite except the moments I mentioned, making Lamentations Of Destruction wearisome without force for gaining the concern of the listener or to excite his interest.
The other point worth saying is that they have future. Violation Of The Soul, Burning and Weeping Flesh is a proof for this. The last one with lyrics written by the old vocalist has a scary passage with screams that makes you feel uncomfortable. Destination also with a good break down moshing hardcore part and a CANNIBAL CORPSE main riff which was introduced by clean vocals. If their third effort will be done with more inspiration and work the standards will be put aside.
In our days, producing of records is too mush over the top and bands like SEAR is obvious that are lost into this abyss. If I had listened this album 15 years before on a demo tape, maybe I would give them half more point in the rating.
