SCREAM SERENITY is a hard rock band from Lowestoft, Suffolk. The band formed in 2014 and they have recently released their debut album "Eye of the Storm". They were dubbed "The UK's answer to BLACK STONE CHERRY, and their influenced consist of ALTERBRIDGE, SHINEDOWN, and STONE SOUR. The first track "The Best of the Worst" starts off with a nice guitar riff, with minimal drums before kicking into an almost thrash metal sound. The heavy sound fades into a very catchy cadence as the vocals hit, it's at this point I can easily tell this bands influences. They have that sound that you would associate with bands such as STONE SOUR.

"Save Yourself" begins with a steady bass thrum before the rest of the band's sound explodes out. This is another catchy hard rock song that you could easily hear on the radio station. The track on its own isn't a bad song but the band doesn't do anything special with the song to make it stand out from the others on this album. The title track "Eye of the Storm", slows it down to a very somber tone. This song has a nice acoustic guitar riff, and then the drums hit to bring it all together. The chorus line picks up and the energy of the song hits a crescendo, to be pulled back down to the somber tone again. This is my favorite song on the album. The band doesn't rewrite the genre with the song, but the way they play the song is very memorable and a good listen.

"Enough" is the hardest song on the album, with a steady rock cadence throughout the song. The vocals fall into that same cadence, before lightening up for the chorus. However, its followed by a chanting of the track title from the backing vocals of the other members. The song weaves in and out from heavy to softer to almost a point it can't figure out what kind of song it wants to be. "Nowhere Town" has an amazing distorted riff with an occasional bass hit at the beginning before the vocals kick in. This song like the others falls into being another genre song that doesn't really break out of the box. With such a promising start to the song it is sad to see the band just fall into the sameness of the genre.

The album end with "Rest (After the Storm)" another acoustic sounding song. This song like all the others doesn't do anything exciting, it is catchy and has great radio playability. The album overall is a decent album, but the band doesn't stray too far from the genre that influences them. You may sometime soon hear this band on the radio, but you might have a hard time discerning them from other bands within the genre. Hopefully this band experiments more within the genre and breaks the mold on their next outing. This is a very talented group, and I would love to see them push themselves.
