RUSTY BONEZ are a Heavy/Hard Rock band formed in 2015, hailing from Athens, Greece. Their debut album "Wrath" was produced at Devasounds Studios in Athens, courtesy of Fotis Bernado (SIXFORNINE / EX-SEPTIC FLESH) and was subsequently released November 2017 at Athens's Ilion Plus theater. RUSTY BONEZ then joined Blackdown Music in 2018 for the promotion and further release of "Wrath" worldwide.

Featured within are ten tracks... most of which I found exceptionally ordinary and somewhat unimaginative. However, there were a few gems amongst them including the very first track "Ball n' Chain", a short but sweet instrumental number. It seems unassuming at first. Then comes the bass line, the build up like you're riding a roller coaster and before you know it, you're off the tracks and soaring through the sky to the tune of Kostas's guitar! To be completely honest, this song probably had me expecting too much right off the bat after I'd heard it. Although, granted, what followed was pretty lacking in terms of creativity and variety. Much of it bled together, even the title track "Wrath" failed to stand out. Still, "King of the Road", managed to stand out for being so repetitive and for all of its awkward empty space and filler.

Then there's track seven "Goldman Shagged". I have to say, it's not what I was expecting and I mean that in the best way possible. Sound and energy-wise this was a breath of fresh air, definitely something we metalheads could head bang to. In fact, we might even be liable to start a mosh pit. Last but not least, I must give more credit where credit is due: "Grub" the tenth and final track, another saving grace. This one is just... different. I'd go as far as to say it's the only song on the album that really piqued my interest. The lyrics describe the grub's metamorphosis but somewhere along the way, something goes wrong, its final form ends up crushed and failing to find a reason to go on.

Ultimately, I feel like "Wrath" would have been cool 15-20 years ago. Maybe. If RUSTY BONEZ were going for a throwback to generic early 2000s Hard Rock bands, they hit the mark. 90s Grunge, they're like the diet version. Nonetheless, there is no denying the fact that there's real talent here despite my criticisms. Nondas's voice actually reminds me of David Draiman with a sprinkling of Layne Staley. As well, Kostas is quite the guitarist if I do say so myself. Evidenced by some cool riffs and extended solos. I'm at least a little interested to see what they come up with next. It's something, right?
