Starting up in the late 80s, along with most of the Glam Metal movement, and aside to female bands and artists such as Lee Aaron, LAOS, Chrissy Steele and many more, Robin Beck has been my favorite. Fronting with a rough voice and high end octaves, she captured my heart while I'm re listening to her self-titled over and over. With hits like "Tears In The Rain", "Hide Your Heart", "First Time", Robin Beck is back with a great AOR album, fit to our modern times but smells as if was made in 1989. This album contains long list with the participation of respectful artists who had a hand in the making of this release like: James Christian, Fiona, Liv Beck (Christian and Beck's daughter), Glen Burtnik and BJ Zampa.

The first track "Wrecking Ball" is a great opener to what comes afterwards, this song is full of energy, has a catchy chorus, and the backing vocals work is very impressive. The song has some drive and you will always feel as if on the run, rather fashionable, and can easily enter to the top 5 on the radio. "Sprain" really caught my ears, a rocking track with plenty of drama and engaging guitar riffs on the choruses, pictured as an anthem. Beck shows that she still got it with her unique voice. "Underneath" is one hell of a ballad, delivers the forgotten golden power ballads in the vein of WINGER and CINDERELLA. The melodic chunks of keyboards fulfill the song's demeanor.

"Catfight" is a poppy Rock track, I was afraid from the opening that Beck went out of her way out Rock but it wasn't so scary after all. This is a very catchy, Pop natured tune. "Check Your Attitude" is Rock straight up again. I have a controversial feeling about this song, it has all the qualities of certifiable hit, but the "oh oh" singing part in the song make it too much poppy and reminds me little bit Avril Lavigne's stuff than the usual rocking Beck, but what can I say - sometimes surprises are good and not bad at all. "Burning Me Down" ignited me right from the start, and guess what - the almighty James Christian is taking a part, (except from the fact that he is Beck's husband). It is enough to listening to the chorus and understand that this is one of the most beautiful tracks on the album. The collaboration with Christian is just right. "Your love is my only peace, your love is my sanity" is one of the immortal lines of the entire release.

"Perfect Storm" reminded me the roots of Beck's debut album, energetic Hard Rock and very melodic. I can't convey any negativity towards the guitar solo, it was amiss. This song is one of the best on the album. I guess I will have to ask Beck if it was her with the high pitch after the first chorus or a wolf screech. "Ya Can't Fight Love" & "Follow You" are closing the Hard Rock section of the album, a duo of anthems, have their own magic, and the a one lead guitar lick so amazing. Who would believe it was made in 2013. Beck sounds so fresh here and bombastic. You can never go wrong with a Robin Beck ballad, "I Swear the Nights" is a true gold balladry, and she sounds as if the years didn't pass and this song was recorded on her beginning of her career. I can't get enough from the powerful chorus of this song, the bass is in the right place, holding the song as it should be, the keyboards are in the back and not in the front, as mostly typical on an AOR album.

Before I listened to the album I was very anxious that I might be disappointed from a new bad release. I mean who the hell can write a great AOR album these days??? Robin Beck proved that she still has what it takes to do such that. This album has exactly what you are looking for from an AOR album.
