Rezet - Reality Is A Lie album cover

German Metal is a tradition in all kinds of Metal you can think of. In Germany, seminal bands such as ACCEPT, HELLOWEEN, RUNNING WILD, GRAVE DIGGER, and many more appeared. In terms of Thrash Metal, names that we will never forget appeared at the same time as their North American counterparts. SODOM, DESTRUCTION, KREATOR, ASSASSIN, TANKARD, LIVING DEATH and many more formed the Speed Metal invasion in the beginning of the second half of the 80's. So, bands from Germany have this energy in their DNA, and no musical influence is needed for them outside of their scene. Even with this strong background, some bands must be aware of what they could do with their music. The German quartet REZET is a good band, but need some improvements.

Their way into Thrash Metal is extremely cool, and that mix between Old School Thrash Metal from the 80s with melodic touches is always welcome. But their efforts are being diminished due the vocals. Yes, it's their only weak point, because Ricky's voice is not as compatible with the band's work as they need. They need to be a bit more worked in a more aggressive way, to fit perfectly in their music. But taking this out (what is a difficult task, because the vocals are the first thing that we pay attention on a Metal album), everything is really very good. The production was done in a very good way, with all the instruments in their due places and with good instrumental tuning.  Harris John, the legendary German producer, did the album mastering, so the result is good. It could be better, if the band didn't try to sound so Old School, with a modern outfit, but it is really good as it is. So, their greatest value is the instrumental parts, where the guitars are unleashing melodic and aggressive riffs (as we can hear on "Reality is a Lie", "Dying by the State" with its excellent rhythmic changes, "Dead City" where the vocals are better and truly aggressive), and some where the bass guitar and drums are perfect (as we hear on the groove of "Cannibal's Revenge", the melodic and hooking "Breaking the Chains" with its Hard Rock influences, the savage and aggressive "Checkmate (War is Hell)" and the hooking arrangements on "Fight for Your Life"). But it could be far better than we hear if the vocals were done in the way Big Daddy here wrote above. Hope they can fix this problem as soon as possible. The band is too good to be wasted.
