To write good music, it requires an inspiration. And in recent years, the economic crisis has dropped the mask on the current political system and led to the fall of several governments, following popular uprisings. REVOLTED MASSES is a band that took all this into consideration in their first album called "Us Or Them".

This band of Death / Thrash Metal is based in Athens, Greece where the crisis has taken its toll in recent years. REVOLTED MASSES presents their album as a way of protesting against this reality. The kickoff is given with "Savage Temper" with a soft sound before giving way to some super heavy riffing, based on solid and brutal grooves. Among the things that attracted my attention is the use of oriental and folk melodies which adds a unique character to each piece. Listen to "War In Heaven" for example. George Triantafyllidis's voice is always present with a remarkable stability and homogeneity. A female voice adds softness to several songs in cohesion with the melodies and atmospheres.

The musical personality of REVOLTED MASSES approaches a lot of SEPULTURA in their first albums, but with this band the musical phrases and solos are highly technical. Arrangements are progressive on their side in more than one piece with variations in tempos and different writing ideas. The lyrics are mainly political, denouncing the governments and the current political systems that are behind capitalism that devours entire populations in favor of a non-existent democracy. Musically and thematically this album is a success, with an interesting and important problematic and a great musicianship, although this is the first album of this group. REVOLTED MASSES is a very nice discovery for me; I think it will be something interesting for you.
