Horizon
Owl Company
Brazil is a country filled with bands from every single style of Rock and Metal you can think of. From North to South, from East to West, you will find bands even when the conditions are the worst possible (as politicians persecuting Rock, and have in mind that it happens here). As many know, the city of São Paulo is a great center of Metal and Rock in Brazil, so it's not something strange that names as OWL COMPANY appear there. This quartet is making a lovely work on their first album, called "Horizon".
Their musical work is based on a blend of traditional Heavy Metal with clear influences from the dirty (and good) side of Seattle bands and some Groove. Of course, names as BLACK SABBATH and SOUNDGARDEN are the first ones to come to our minds. So, although their work lacks originality (in the sense that they aren't creating something that doesn't already exist), it has a charming set of very good melodies (that are easy to understand), catchy choruses and a solid instrumental work.
Greasy and well finished is the sound quality of "Horizon". The tunes of the guitars are dirty as their music needs, the atmosphere is really very good, with a clean and modern aesthetic, but of course the production made a fine work gathering the rawness of the band's music (that is the core of its personality) with a good and clear quality. So, you all can understand what the band is playing. The band's songs are fine, but their total musical potential is about to be used in the future. For now, songs as the catchy and thunderous "Celebrate and Kneel" with its fine vocals lines and charming chorus, the slow tempos of "Ain't Time for This" and "Play With Fire" (both with very good guitars on hypnotic riffs), the abrasive and heavy Groove of "Riddles", the catchy and bitter melodies of the tempos on "Bullet Proof Innocence", the introspective experience of dark atmosphere of "Caged Emotions", and the great work in harmonies shown on "Underdog".
When they get a bit more mature, don't stay in their way!
