OMEGA DIATRIBE is a Hungarian Extreme Groove Metal band that was born in 2008. However, live performances didn't begin until 2012, which were filled with "super heavy grooves" combined and crazy "polyrhythmic" elements. The bands name has an interesting back-story: "There's a secret ancient writing stem from an unknown alien civilization, a contract between Humans and Aliens about the use of the planet Earth. The government calls it 'Omega Diatribe'. This contract says Humans could only use the Earth in a limited time. Overtime is not allowed. When our time is over they'll come back and take us to a higher-level planet. Only the open minded people could survive the transmission, because their mind can undergo the changes of the human body."

OMEGA DIATRIBE released their first full-length album in 2013 "IAPETUS". The band is back with a new EP release "Abstract Ritual". "Abstract Ritual" comes in with six tracks at a listening time of just a hair over 26 minutes.

At first I was skeptical of this album as the band name and the album names all sounded like something that would reflect more as an Alternative Metal and in all honesty there is a ton of Alternative elements interwoven through leaving my skepticism pure, but not needed. There is a lot of power and a lot of energy flow in "Abstract Ritual".

The album starts with "Subsequent Phase", a strong intro that's a bit slower but still hooks the listener with impressive guitars and drums. Vocals are barked and gritty but audible. This track sets the tone for the rest of the EP and flows seamlessly into track two "Extrinsic". "Extrinsic" is another hard flowing track that bites but has great Groove elements everywhere. The bass line is awesome and the guitars incredible. Really enjoy them at about the three-minute mark.

"Hydrozoan Periods" is a creatively gorgeous and brilliantly written. The hard-hitting drums and a remarkable bass line create my favorite track on the EP. The input from the guitars makes for one cohesive and pleasant listen all while the vocals spit their gritty bellowings. The next and title track has another incredible bass line that can't go unnoticed along with guitar riffs that immediately bring in not only the Groove element but also a more Alternative feel as well.

Track five, "The Quantum", is by far the softest track on "Abstract Ritual". It starts off in a low guitar that is perfectly suiting after rounds of harder music. The vocals are spoken and tell an interesting story or theory. There is a silence between "The Quantum" and the final track "Unshadowed Days (Perception Remix)" that I think disrupts the flow a bit on this track. I'm not sure if it's the abrupt ending of track five or the long silence of the final track, but the flow was compromised. Track six is back hard-hitting drums, intricate guitars, low bass lines, and barking vocals. Being the longest track on the EP in minute four we are welcomed by an in-track interlude with music returning in the five minute 30 second range.

OMEGA DIATRIBE has released an EP that will appeal to many listeners. There are multiple elements these tracks that will continue to allure their audience. "Abstract Ritual" is a fun, high energy EP that will captivate Metalheads and Rock N' Rollers alike.
