It has been five years since Florida Death Metal legends Obituary recorded Darkest day, five years on the band return with what can only be described as their best album to date, both vicious and heavy and keeping to what Obituary does best making powerful heavy and destructively groovy Death Metal.
This is "Inked In Blood"!!
We start off with what has become one of my favorites off of this behemoth of an album, "Visions In My Head"! When I first listened to this song I couldn't help but go along with it, it's one of those songs where you just need to move to it to feel it. since finding this I haven't gone one day without listening to this track, it is truly one hell of an addictive song, Trevor Peres still shows what he's capable of with this in every way by bringing the speed and power in every section of this fist pounding anthem, as well as showing that John Tardy can still bring the aggression when it comes to his unique style of vocals, All in all I would certainly suggest this song to anyone, even if you haven't listened to Obituary before this song will certainly make you a fan.
The second track I have chosen off of this mighty record is Violence! The track starts with a very traditional style of sound that Obituary have been known for over the years, it's fast, its aggressive and it is the obituary we all know and love very much, the combine guitars of both Trevor and Kenny is just incredible to say the least, it is a sound that they have been known for over the years, the combination of Florida Death with a Punk after taste. See in my opinion there are a lot of people who go on saying how the older bands are losing touch with the sound that made them known or the style they use to play, but when it came down to it Obituary made it clear that they are still growing strong each and every day with each and every record they put out it proves that not only have they remained the band that they are but are the band that we still know by keeping with what they started with and that is what you get with this song and every song on this incredible record.
My final words. It has truly been an honor reviewing this masterpiece, and it needs to be said that I didn't turn out disappointed, this album is in every way the way I hoped it would be, this is Obituary at their finest and by far there it is the album e hoped for.
What I think made this record was the fact that it was the fans helping to make it, and in the end you can feel it with every track on this record, so do yourselves a favor and support this record with all you have because truly this is something which deserves praise in every way possible.
