Memorial For A Wish
Nergard
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: NERGARD; signed via Battlegod Productions, hailing from Norwegian grounds - performing Progressive Power Metal, on their re-recorded debut album entitled: "Memorial For A Wish" (released April 20th, 2018).
Since formation in 2010; the quintet in question have 2 albums in their discography so far, I am introduced to their debut; re-recorded, reissued release entitled: "Memorial For A Wish". Bundled together with the original 2013 version; as well as the 2018 re-recorded version, I will be listening to the latter edition as part of this review. 9 tracks ranging at around 53:74; the quartet deliver an intricately designed arrangement of Progressive, Power Metal developments. Starting off with the battering yet operatic opener: "Angels"; I experience a unique aesthetic of hard-hitting instrumentation, which amalgamates with an injection of organically melodious musicianship with a consistently conceptual contrast of progressively technical substances.
Consisting of a multiple magnitude of various artists; (from bands like PRIMAL FEAR; GAMMA RAY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEM; ACCEPT & WHITESNAKE to name a few) mostly vocalists, including Sunniva Unsgard Ralf Scheepers, and Mike Vescera first off contributes with complexly diligent dynamics of diverse varieties in their vastly proficient styles - including clean, high-pitched singing with screams and raw yet rough around the edges - excelling performances. "The Haunted" embellishes a concrete balance of gritty domination and a grandiose manifestation of Symphonic Metal juxtapositions, blistering craftsmanship creativity yet hammering powerhouse pulverization adroitness from bass/drums/keyboardist compositor Åge Sten Nilsen who establishes a captivating attribute with the ability to assault with rampaging rhythms and fluidly polished stability. "Hell On Earth" demonstrates a solid slab of razor-sharp nimbleness, rapidly swifting with remarkable audibility from Nils K. Rue & founding member & compositor Andreas Nergård (also on bass/drums).
"Stay" provides more flamboyant ramifications of harmonic interventions that distributes an enlightening array of fulfilling expertise and inventful innovations, as the songwriting and sound production fabricates original and memorable construction. Dextrous vocalist Helge Engelke (also on guitar) supplies more efficient energetic thunder, electrifying with bouncy grooves and profusely robust executions. "A Question Of God" has more crunchy characteristics, while implementing the rhapsodic elements with the thumpy experimentations - enjoyable stuff. Ole Martin Moe Thornes; David Reece, & Michele Luppi all have impressive pipes as the borderline foundations relentlessly examines the symphonious structure - gracefully.
"An Everlasting Dreamscape" showcases more brilliant performances, as dextrous duo Stig Nergard & Andi Kravljaca on guitars showcase a profusely robust formula of efficacious experimentation and vehement styles. "Nightfall" conveys more impressive vocalization from Tony Mills & Göran Edman, portraying sufficient, yet captivating equalities. Keeping me grabbed and hooked with the epic "Requiem"; the finale track "Inside Memories" overall concludes this crazy record with an unprecedented, deep guttural growl which I did not expect for this kind of record; I was very surprised with this one, I will admit that I had difficulty writing this review - however, I had a blast and NERGARD certainly outdone themselves with it.
Definitely worth discovering.<
