MISCONDUCTERS have released their fifth album in December 2017, "Pariah." The album features seven heavy tracks defying the confines of any respective rock or metal subgenre. The band was formed in 2008 by founder, Denfire, and at times seems to convey a punk, thrash, or metal sound.

The opening track, "Skyline", has a rough, gritty, angsty vibe from the outset. The track gnaws at you with its rough around the edges punk rock infused energy. "Top of the Chain" lashes out and attacks with another heavily punk inspired guitar riff. This track stood out to me, particularly, because of the way the song built up in the middle with a driving force behind the wailing guitar solo.

The aptly named "Battlefield" marches right into the midst of a torrential, thrashy refrain deserving of a formidable circle pit I'm certain. There really isn't much to the song lyrically, but the guitar solo is on point and definitely kicks you right in the teeth.

The title track, "Pariah", brings with it more hard hitting metal sound with punk vocals. The rhythm guitar sections remind me a bit of Megadeth from the early 90's in a great way. "Born Down South" brings another catchy rhythm guitar section with all the gruff, sludgy sound characteristic of the Misconducters.

"Vermifuge II" starts with a dramatic intro and then slams you head on with another turbulent metal track. "Pace of Life" kicks up into a catchy, high energy melody.

Misconducters has something interesting here in that they have a distinct sound while completely escaping the generalization of sub genre labelling. There is definitely a defiant, punk rock vibe to it, but it's not punk rock, and there's a metal feel to it as well, but it's not just heavy metal either. Sometimes with this sort of muddied, rough, raw sound the tracks can tend to sound the same and become sort of a blur of the same thing over again. Not the case with "Pariah"; Misconducters deliver well written tracks with memorable rhythm guitar riffs, variation, and catchy melodies that will bring the listener back.
