MIDNITE SKY is Melodic Hard Rock band from Stuttgart, Germany. The band was formed in 1993 and was previously known as ZARDOZ releasing 3 Hard Rock records - EP "Clink Stereotyplate or What?" (1996), EP "Bombastic Plastic" (1998), CD "Broken Mirror" (2001). With their new moniker they have released one album in 2004 "Rock The Planet" and in the end of 2013 "Blood, Sweat And A Little More".
On this album every song can be deemed as a masterpiece. "Hellfire" it was like being attacked by a barrage of heavy riffs, yet that song actually shares an AOR feel with a stadium Rock chorus, a memorable moment of clarity, I sensed SCORPIONS and JADED HEART influences. Through "All I Ever Want" listeners will become evident of DOKKEN and BON JOVI enrichments, masterful guitar solo and highly catchy lyrics. "Sex Bomb Love Machine" is characterized with low end riffs, crafty melodies, tight rhythm section and an amazing set of vocals. "Tell Me Why" is the album's mega melodic onslaught with a similarity to VAN HALEN's "Ain't Talkin 'bout Love". "Where Are the Angels" retains the early heaviness, but not without the smoothness that this band has in its songwriting, punchy Hard Rock. There is a clear EUROPE, DOKKEN, GOTTHARD and SHAKRA inspirations on this one. "Rock With Me Tonite" is an energetic kicker, Glamish to some extent picturing CRAZY LIXX and STEEL PANTHER with blazing sounds. There is a soother climate mixed with a lively chorus on "Now You're Gone" with a fair share of BAI BANG. Also worth to listen are: "Waiting for Your Love" kick ass Hard Rock 80's oriented larger than life, "Feels Like Heaven" an AOR tune with a sheer sense of melody that you have your soul for breakfast, "Change Your Mind" contracted another fine mixture of smoothness with heaviness that felt fresh. Finally the WHITESNAKE delivery on "Love Is a Stranger" with melodic singing of choir.
Summing up, MIDNITE SKY is an excellent band. I'm very happy that I had pleasure to listen their new CD. "Blood, Sweat And A Little More" is perfectly done, I couldn't stop listening to it, and it was hard just leaving it there. The band's energy is addictive. The margin of positivity is overwhelming and it is quite palpable throughout the tracklist. I can guarantee that every single Rock & Metal fan have anything that he or she wishes from MIDNITE SKY. Respect for them. I bet their live shows are unforgettable, with all the catchy melodies and riffs from the 80's.
