The Prelude
Media Solution
Some of the modern styles of Metal are really weird at the first listening, but as soon as the frights are over, you really can become attached to the music of some bands. Even the weirdest band of all has something to contribute for the future of Metal and Rock. And maybe bands as the North American quartet MEDIA SOLUTION, from Los Angeles, can do some good contributions, as their work heard on the EP, "The Prelude", is here to prove.
They have a mix between Metal and Rock'n'Roll influences as a background, but their music sounds heavy, abrasive and modern, sometimes aggressive and chaotic. Maybe some influences from S.O.A.D. appears at some points; there SLIPKNOT lift its finger, some Metalcore tunes and Beatdown hardcore tempos, along with some aggressive outfit. No, they do not try to sound soft or accessible in any moments, always bitter, as a straight punch in your face.
The sound production was done in a way that their music flows from the speakers loud, heavy, aggressive and clean. Of course it's an exigency for modern styles of Metal, so here it is, with a very good balance between weight and clearness. And their choice for modern and abrasive instrumental tunes shows to be a wise one, because their music has a strong personality.
Their seven songs show personality, and maybe this band is going to open new ways into Metal. Take a careful listening on the aggressive tunes on the hooking "Destroy Something Beautiful" (with very good work on drums and bass guitars, along with very good backing vocals), the mix of Rapcore influences with tender melodies from Metalcore that "Stand My Ground" shows (what lovely chorus, and very good vocals are shown on the entire song), the sinister and introspective "Coward" with its fine guitars (and an explosive chorus), the abrasive and modern feeling that "We Are the Kings" and "Enjoy the Ride" present, both with excellent bass and drums work.
I believe that their musical mix of influences still can mature, but I hope that in a near future, they can become of the spearheads of new limits on Metal.<
