MEDEN AGAN is female fronted Symphonic Metal / Melodic Metal band from Athens in Greece. The band was formed in in November 2005 in Paris, France by guitarist Diman Koutsogiannopoulos. They released first demo in April 2006, debut full-length album "Illusions" which was released in November 2007, EP "Nemesis - Promo 2010", "Erevos Aenaon" in September 2011 and the new album "Lacrima Dei" with new female vocalist coloratura soprano Maya Kampaki was released on 22 September 2014 and was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM, AVANTASIA, STRATOVARIUS) and has a massive sound.

Opening "Divine Wrath" is full of stronger, massive guitars, gentle keys and nice opera singing with heavy sounds! High climate in refrain where vocalist sound amazing with choir - similarity to NIGHTWISH. Hearable is also progressive change rate, folkish echoes and perfect keyboard solo like AERYON and impressive guitar solo! Female vocalist Maya Kampaki has fantastic voice, she connecting very well power with calm and mysterious, she singing soprano voice where is feeling passion and she put heart into her work. Just listen calmer ballad "Loss" where gentle guitars with keys shows how wonderful voice of Maya. Her amazing calmer singing could to catch everyone by heart and faster higher sounds in chorus remind me WITHIN TEMPTATION.

Titled track "Lacrima Dei" is opening by modern elements like in AMARANTHE band style, gentle keys, and heavy guitars - that makes perfect connection! Also female vocalist is just amazing with choir and melodic chorus where is Gothic and Symphonic elements! Amazing guitar solo which make goose-flesh! Single "Everlasting Pain" begins with piano and stronger guitars, it has ballad climate but with unbelievable power where heavy guitars mix gentle piano and high singing - just heaven!

Very interesting is "Portal Of Fear" where is screaming in CRADLE OF FILTH style what make mood of fear, then symphonic brilliant choir in THERION climate, little Philharmonic style and very melodic sounds. The last track on album "Commemorate The Fallen" is excellent, with progressive rate, beautiful singing by Maya, and brilliant choir in refrain, sweet keys, flute and perfect performance of talented musicians.

Worth to listen are also: "Nuntii Belli" where headbanging style mix opera singing and screaming in the background, amazing keys solo, powerful "Devoid Of Sanity" with singing female and male together what sounds fantastic, "Embrace The Sorrow" with powerful drums, energetic keys, oriental singing, awesome choir in refrain with opera singing and elements of Power Metal with little Progression and "Web Of Shadows" where is nice opera singing with choir of band in refrain (similarity to CORVUS CORAX), really kick-ass sounds and excellent guitar solo with keys in STRATOVARIUS style.

MEDEN AGAN shows with its new album their class on Symphonic Melodic Metal market. Production of album is on high level, inside are power, energy and melodic! Their music shows experience of musicians in Symphonic Metal with modern echoes with Folk, Philharmonic and Gothic elements. Highly recommended for fans of NIGHTWISH, WITHIN TEMPTATION, AMARANTHE, STRATOVARIUS and EPICA. I couldn't stop to listen these beautiful songs on album because they are so catchy with heaviness too. Finally new album of Greek Metallers is total perfect! For me this band is amazing and tracks are killers! Necessary album to buy!
