There are times when I must repeat the same thing: please, remember that we have ancient bands that we must respect. If you're in a band, the best way to respect them is to not copy what they did in the past. The best way is to work things out in your own way, because trying to bring back what was already done is an easy way to be accused of cloning. Although they are doing a good work, the Swiss trio MATTERHORN is really dealing with danger on "Crass Cleansing".

They are a six years old band, but they are playing in a way too near of what their compatriots in CELTIC FROST did on their "To Mega Therion" times, mixed with Speed/Thrash influences of the 80's. The album sounds good, but an important thing is hidden under an immense pile of musical clichés: their musical identity. Yes, sometimes they lack a more personal approach, like someone who needs to do a personal work, but fear to commit a mistake and follow others steps. They have talent, but are throwing it away doing things like this.

The sound quality is a mix of raw instrumental tunes with a modern outfit. It sounds organic, but it's far of being perfect. They are trying desperately to be a band from the 80's, what they aren't and will never be. Once more: take a listening on the later works of TOXIC HOLOCAUST and you'll find a fine sound quality with the organic feeling you all are searching for. As long as I hear this mistake, I'll teach the secret that your ingenuity doesn't let you learn. Their songs are showing a band that tries in all the ways they can to be another CELTIC FROST from their earlier days, but once more: you can't be them, for they already existed and has recorded testimonies of their passage. Be yourselves!

"Violent Success" (with some good riffs), "Teenage Emperors", "Parabol Dreams", and "Tongues of Babel" are good songs and would gain many fans... If we all didn't knew the old records left by the pioneers from the 80's! Guys, please, try to show us something from your own hearts and souls! If "Crass Cleasing" is really what you are, I have bad news: you're clones, not individual people. Thomas Gabriel will be ashamed if someone shows this album to him.
