Malevolent Rapture
Legion Of The Damned

Now, that's what I call a freaking heavy as hell Metal album! Legion Of The Damned's first album is an oasis in the vast desert of mediocre releases; it's a kick in your balls whereas other bands tend to warble poems tenderly in your ear all the time. Don't get me wrong, poems are good, but war howls are better. Let's see why...
All these Dutch dudes are former founding members of cult band Occult. I can't figure out the reasons of changing their name though, since Occult was a well-respected name in the Metal scene. I can only assume that their decision had something to do with their new contract with Massacre Records. Oh well.
Legion Of The Damned welcome the year 2006 with an 80's aesthetics Thrash Metal album. As soon as the first track Legion Of The Damned starts to play, you realize that this release is something that the Metal music industry was in need of. Uncompromising, filthy, bashing Thrash Metal, fast riffing, frustrating vocals and sickening shrieks. Damn, they're aggressive. Songs like Into The Eye Of The Storm and Taste Of The Whip are representative. Did I mention that they love Kreator? Well, they do, and that's obvious.
Sure, I've heard all those things before, there's no originality in this album, It's just clean-cut, ass-kicking Metal. That's why I love it. Now, if your ears are used to listening to Tarja's sweet little voice, stay the hell away from this album. Run, run like the wind!
