Germany's KVINNA launch their assault on the Stoner/Fuzz pantheon like a an angry mammoth from outer space. "This Is Türborock" is their first full length and follows a December '15 EP titled "Desert Witch". This debut full album of new and newly recorded material is presented by Argonauta Records in their impressive attempt to corner the genre's market. Overall, KVINNA's talent is a fine addition.

Truthfully, there's not a whole lot of originality being presented within "This Is Türborock". That's not necessarily a terrible thing, though I think for many it may hinder their ability to fully enjoy the album. Still, its a barn burner of a release, and rocks pretty damn hard start to finish. With that in mind, it's definitely worth checking out. The album doesn't really waste time getting things started with "Desert Wytch" the re-recorded  title of their earlier EP. Technically, all is the same with the exception of a new spelling and a much better production and mix. "War Machine" follows a similar path, with a hypnotic riff drawing you in, before a punkish chorus and breakdown spins things into a bit of an unexpected direction. The second and final EP track is up next with "Nitefighter".  Again, there's a health dose of punk being applied and it calls to mind the OFFSPRING quite a bit as does "Flat Tyre".

Keeping with this established punk feel, the songs proceed in a blistering pace, one after another, with the longest song so far coming in just under two & a half minutes. "Space Vampyres" was an early favorite for me, with it having the most unique and original approach of the first half of the album. On the other hand, "She-Wolves on Fire" suffered from a clunky beginning that even the catchy chorus couldn't redeem. "Angry 45" returns to the fun, punk laden hooks and became another favorite, though the repetitiveness of the lyric stood out a bit too. "Demon Road" flips a bit of a switch for me, in that many of the same subjects are being revisited throughout the course of the album. A bit of a concept approach perhaps, or maybe just a theme. "Gammal Kvinna" returns to the similar feel of "Space Vampyres" that I really dug, and at nearly four minutes,  is the longest track we have to work with.

"Full Moon Ryders" draw us to the close. Overall,  "This Is Türborock" is a fun ride. The highs outweigh the lows, and I look forward to seeing the band grow and mature. KVINNA seem like a band that would excel in a live environment, and one hopes that the'll be able to bottle that fury at some point in the future.  "This Is Türborock" is certainly a good start.
