Kinetic - The Chains That Bind Us album cover

At last the time of justification has come. I remember myself being, the least, red-hot with this band many months ago when I saw them performing live without even having heard any of their songs before. After a while, when I got their demo CD, I knew that this band was one of a kind; astonishing production for Greek demo standards (believe me, production is our country's Achilles' heel), serious songwriting and professionalism. I never thought that a homegrown newcomer could grab my interest and compete in equal terms the foreign bands. I was completely wrong!
For those that haven't read the demo review (I hope you aren't many ), Kinetic is  a band that knows how to combine elements from two different schools of extreme Metal. Most of their lead parts would remind you of the Swedish mentality (though in this case they are more lengthy and technical), but their rhythm has more to do with the rough nature of the American scene. If I had to describe their style, making a comparison to other bands, those would be Sadus, Coroner (all hail), Arch Enemy and Death.
Though this release is remarkable from every point of view, one thing that'll greatly impress you is how catchy their music is. It's very difficult for a band that moves in the extreme Metal field to make its compositions easy-memorized so to help the fans to sing along the refrains and tie up with it. Usually we grab our lovely air-baguettes emulating Pete Sandoval and hammering along our feet in the rhythm of drums. So, Kinetic should be really proud of composing songs that could touch the listener and make him read the lyrics to get deeper into them.
Of course I couldn't finish this review without mentioning the band's performing delirium that literally ranks them among great names of the field and at least 2 scales higher than 95% of the local scene. Outstanding, totally lucid guitar play with one of the most ass-kicking rhythm plays I've heard in a while, furious and manifold drumming and fire-eating but distinguishable vocals.
I've been searching desperately during the last few weeks for an extreme Metal release to touch me and I must say that this one is like an oasis in the desert. I can't say that this was a surprise to me since I knew from the beginning the band's abilities, so it was a matter of time to be confirmed.  I'm very happy that at last a Greek band uses the aim of technology aright and delivers a record of towering standards. Why search elsewhere when the good stuff is right in front of you? You got to hear this in order to believe it!
