Ildjarn - Forest Poetry (Reissue) album cover

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the old Norwegian Black Metal days, where most of the Black Metal musical projects are totally underground and developing their music in secret away from the eyes of the government, where the black metal gigs are organized secretly and the production is raw as abyss. The Norwegian musician ILDJARN has presented the fourth full-length album Forest Poetry to follow the same devilish patterns of the albums "Landscapes", "Strength and Anger", and the debut album, and the first thing you can notice about this record is the black metal experienced riffs and the matured materials compared to the previous tracks.

"Forest Poetry" has the same raw production of the previous album, with a slight improvement in the mixing aspect. You have 22 to drill your skull with, every single track is a perfect example of how the old school Black Metal music sounds like; the raging rapid-paced drumming that follows the volcanic tempo of the guitar chords, the demonic peeling pitch of Black Metal vocals and the driven bass sound. The first thing you will hate about ILLDJARN's musical structure is the way he intended to end the tracks, a sudden silence comes out from nowhere, and though this was a common thing early second wave of Black Metal, but this will hurt if you notice it in all the 22 tracks.

If you have that mischievous Black Metal mood and you want to go back in time and listen to the primitive sound of the Norwegian Black Metal, when the cheap equipments and the low-quality speakers were prevailing, then you have to pick this album for ILDJARN, though it's not that different from the previous albums, but somehow the guitar work here is more extreme and aggressive, and the drumming is more angry, and even the vocals have more power. The fans of the modern Black Metal sound will not like a single track from this album, because these albums are ancient cults for the ancestors, and the listeners who only enjoy the good production will not pay a penny to buy this record, so if you're one of these guys then you have to stay away from here.

For the raw Black Metal, I recommend the tracks "Midnight Interval", "Blazing Eye", "Before My Eyes Forever", "Visions Of The Earth (2nd Returning)".
