Splendid Isolate

Yet another electronic influenced band from Sonicbids, this one making Australia its home. The first thing that triggered my interest in this EPK was that they listed Devin Townsend as an influence. Devin is one of my favorite artists ever, so I immediately put it on to find...
Dylan started the band in 2005 and he records all instrumentation as well as produces. The first pressing of the album sold out very quick. In their native Queensland, Australia they have opened for H.I.M. and APOPTYGMA BERZERK.
When a band lists Devin as an influence I have high standards for a band, but with I NATION I don't hear any Devin or anything that I would really want to listen to. Quite similarly to the last Industrial/Metal band I had reviewed, GHOST IN THE MACHINE, they have musical similarities to CROSSBREED and STABBING WESTWARD. The band however does neither band justice. I think that their songs lack substance and have too much a of Nu Metal quality for me.
I NATION I guess I could recommend to fans of Nu Metal or maybe a more electronic sounding SLIPKNOT. I don't find this band going to far in the future due to their stale sound, but they will probably do fine on a local scale.
