Horrorscope - Evoking Demons album cover

The name HORRORSCOPE instantly reminded me of the classic OVERKILL album Horrorscope (1991). I was pretty sure that this would be a killer Thrash Metal band. I really don't know why but I had this feeling. I just had to search for some information about them since it is the first time I hear about this band...
HORRORSCOPE were formed in Poland in 1997. They have up to now been through many line up changes and their albums have been released through various record labels. From what I found out, I f I am not mistaken, every album has been released through a different label. This must be the first time they release a second album through the same label. Let's see what their fourth full-length album has to offer.
First of all, it seems I was right about what I said. This is a Thrash Metal band. But is this a killer band? Poland usually produces great Death Metal bands like VADER, BEHEMOTH or DECAPITATED. What does Poland has to offer regarding Thrash Metal? After having listened to Evoking Demons I have to say that Poland has some stuff to offer! Unfortunately, there are not many bands out there that remain faithful to the Bay Area Thrash ideals. HORRORSCOPE play classic Bay Area Thrash without sounding retro. Their sound is pretty good and that's what makes them sound more fresh than expected. At times, they reminded me of DARK ANGEL and TESTAMENT, as well as some EXODUS and VIO-LENCE. Their technique is pretty good and their songs seem very nice structured. The guitarists shred like maniacs, the voice is just Thrash and the rhythm section makes the whole work great. Basically, the rhythm section reminded me of ATROPHY. There are no new and progressive stuff in this album, only pure and relentless Thrash Metal, ready to blow your brains on the wall!
If you are waiting for the new TESTAMENT album and you have been tired of waiting, this album will keep you busy until the release of the new opus by the Bay Area Thrash titans. A good investment for all the Thrashers out there and all the metalheads in general. Check this shit out!
